Team TDP Crowned Pro and Club Time Attack Champions 2009

Sunday September 6th 2009, saw thousands of Japanese car fans flocking to Mondello Park for Jap-Fest, Ireland’s biggest and best car show. The highlights of this year’s show were the Irish Time-Attack championship, Prodrift Super Series and the Mondello Drag Sprint.

The morning sky looked quite promising, with clouds few and far between. However, by 10 or 11am, the sky was filled with grey clouds. The heavy, sometimes even torrential, rain had invited itself along as (an unwelcome) guest for the day. Spirits were still high though. The rain didn’t discourage most people from getting on with, and more importantly enjoying, the events.

Due to the bad weather and poor visibility, track conditions were treacherous for the qualifying sessions. Many Time Attack competitors, both pro and club class, went off track. It was good practice for everyone though, as the weather stayed like this for most of the final.

During the final, Brendan Stone was absolutely flying. He was on a mission to win, and win he did. Brendan won the round with a time of 1:06.720, over a second faster than the next quickest car. Well done Animal, we’re proud of you. Unlike so many others, Brendan’s driving skills are on top form, regardless of the weather/track conditions.

Unfortunately, the GTR’s transfer box failed mid-way through the Time Attack final. This meant that Robbie had to retire early from the event. He did however, manage to set a 1:11.286 lap time prior to the technical difficulties. This placed him fourth overall in the event, and meant that he finished second in the 2009 Championship. Well done Robbie! That’s 1st and 2nd place in the 2009 Time Attack Championship for TDP.
